OUR STORY

The Zeyneb Farhat Project (ZFP) honors the profound legacy of the visionary Tunisian feminist and human rights activist, Zeyneb Farhat. Through the Zanoobya Association—an NGO she founded in 2014 to champion civic rights and sustainability through art—she provided critical support to our collective. As the co-founder of El Teatro, Tunisia’s first independent theater, Farhat tirelessly nurtured young talent and produced iconic, boundary-pushing works that transformed the regional art scene. By producing the original TranStyX play and book, she gave our collective the platform to establish our voice. Dedicated to her memory, the ZFP continues her vital mission: amplifying marginalized voices through a boldly inclusive and intersectional approach.

Consortium members

To achieve these ambitious goals, ZFP unites four powerhouse organizations, each bringing crucial expertise in art, artivism, project management, human rights, and intersectional feminism. Together, this consortium is uniquely positioned to foster an intersectional vanguard that explicitly merges high art with human rights advocacy. By establishing an independent counterweight, the partnership creates safe physical and digital spaces dedicated to uncensored expression. The project also serves as an engine to drive economic empowerment, intentionally dismantling class barriers by providing paid fellowships and fair wages to marginalized creators. Furthermore, the collective works to decentralize access by moving beyond the capital to bring art directly to underserved regions, all while combating erasure by actively documenting and permanently archiving these vital marginalized histories.
